AVAILABLE ROLES
We are not looking for imitations of past performances we are excited to see what you bring to the role—your unique voice, perspective, and creativity.
We welcome performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and body types. This production is designed to offer maximum flexibility in casting, and we encourage you to audition for the character you feel most connected to, regardless of how the role has been cast traditionally.
WORKERS:
A major part of this show, they are the spirit of labor and community, a physical choral presence. Strong singers, actors and movers.
ORPHEUS:
Lyre playing poet, gifted and naive.
EURYDICE:
A runaway, tough and vulnerable.
HADES:
Compulsive industrialist, boss of Hadestown.
PERSEPHONE:
Queen of nature and the season, a lush.
HERMES:
Charismatic guide and storyteller, mentor to Orpheus.
FATES (3): Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto,
Three Sisters, vicious and delicious, voices in the head
What to prepare:
30-second selection of music in the style of the show. It can be from contemporary musical theater, rock, pop, or folk. You may perform with:
A karaoke track
Your own instrument
Sheet music for piano (an accompanist will be provided)
Show us your range, character, and storytelling.

3. This short monologue. Read or perform the following text—it doesn’t need to be memorized. We want to see how you command the room:
Two paths stretch before me in the moonlight. One’s neat as a silver ribbon—safe, predictable, in perfect 4/4 time. (Pause) But that other path… it twists like a wild jazz note through the shadows. My whole life they said, ‘Stay in tune, follow the conductor.’ (With conviction) But what if my soul beats to its own rhythm? Sometimes the bravest thing is choosing your own path, even if you have to write the music yourself.
